INTERCONTINENTAL HANOI LANDMARK72 RECOGNIZED BY AMCHAM’S CSR RECOGNITION AWARD 2020

InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 was honoured to be amongst the winners at the AmCham’s CSR Recognition Award. The award was presented by His Excellency Ambassador of the United States Daniel J. Kritenbrink and AmCham Chairwoman Ms. Virginia Footer.

AmCham’s CSR Recognition Award, now in its sixth year, identifies and recognizes AmCham member companies that demonstrate an understanding of the linkages between business operations and society, and who conduct business in a way that creates both long-term economic and social value. This year’s awards recognize the action and commitment of members who assisted Vietnam and the Vietnamese people during this extremely challenging time.

During COVID-19 time, InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 reached out first to the community of colleagues and guests, as their safety is the hotel’s primary concern. In April 2020, the leadership team prepared Care Packages for all of its team members which contained a sack of rice, milk, sausages, fish sauce, coffee, cooking oil and other daily necessities. As the employees’ means of income had been affected one way or the other, the leadership team wanted to first care for their team members so they can be more confident and secured when they look after the guests.

Later came a Care Kit with face masks, antiseptic wipes and hand sanitizer which is provided to all guests up to this day. Colleagues were also provided with masks while hand sanitizers were installed around the hotel, including back of the house.

With a continuing mission to build more sustainable communities, InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 in partnership with Diversey embarked on Soap for Hope - a global program which does not only divert hundreds of thousands of hotel soap from landfills but also fulfill a local need for hygiene products. A proud partner of the initiative since 2018, InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 has since produced and distributed over 1,000 bars of soap made from hotels' soap slivers, while improving the livelihood and hygiene for over 400 people in rural areas of Hanoi and its surrounding provinces. As the entire world is battling the current pandemic, the hotel team gathered to pack these soaps and provide something useful to people who need it the most.

The Social Protection Center III in Tay Mo, Tu Liem, is home to over 1,000 elders and children without shelter in Hanoi since their establishment in 1992. The hotel team has been providing support to the center for over 2 years, with frequent visits and donations from within our team. As the pandemic has stopped some volunteers and benefactors to support the communities in Hanoi, the hotel took the initiative to handover 200 soap bars and 100 InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 Polar Bears to the elderly and orphans residing at the Center.

“At InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72, we believe in showing love and support to the local community we operate in. We hope our gesture will not only benefit people in need, but also inspire others to spread kindness and positivity during this difficult time.” – said Mr Patrick Verove, the hotel’s General Manager
